Residential Low Voltage Systems Designer/Engineer
 

This is an excellent opportunity for a self starter with 3-5 years experience in the residential custom electronics industry with extensive knowledge of materials and installation requirements. Your primary role will be to support the Design Engineering Division Manager specifying equipment, building proposals, and drawing diagrams. The ideal candidate will be looking to expand their experience in the industry to include the back office end of growing a business.

This position has significant growth opportunity. Our jobs are intricate and client expectations are very high, so attention to detail is critical. In addition, a desire to work with clients, peers and supervisors with a professional demeanor and positive attitude are essential.

Ultimate Control is a fast paced environment that requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to a growing, challenging and changing environment. A can-do attitude is the most important aspect of this position. Many times you will have to go above and beyond your job description and help with other aspects of the division when needed. You will report directly to the Design Engineering Division Manager.

Design Engineering Department Functions

  • System design in the form of building proposals and specifying equipment
  • Provide product specifications and technical details
  • Provide detailed floorplans and diagrams
  • Provide space, ventilation, and electrical requirements for our equipment
  • Assist with scope of work/system functionality specifications
  • Interact with Sales/Design staff and Project Managers to assist with and document design criteria, clients functionality requirements, and scope of work
  • Interact directly with clients in a support role to the main point of contact
Core Software Platforms Utilized
  • Microsoft Visio with D-Tools custom systems integrator software (V4.6 with Lansync)
  • AutoDesk Autocad 2000-2005
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Microsoft Word and Excel as needed
General skill-sets required by Design Engineering department staff
  • Understanding of custom integration low-voltage systems and technology such as overlay control systems, audio/video equipment, lighting control systems, communications infrastructure cabling and termination, and standard low-voltage system inter-communication protocols.
  • Proficiency with CAD and basic knowledge of residential building structures.
  • Basic computer skills such drawing, editing documents and contracts, using the internet for research purposes, communicating in a professional manner through written correspondence, and data entry.
  • Good organizational and time management skills, proficiency with English grammar and spelling, as well as general office communication skills.
